11:50p 4/5 235mm
f/10
73
168
At 73x, larger and brighter than 3708, which is just to the N. Round with smooth brightening toward center. At 168x, stellar nucleus surrounded by granular halo, which is slightly oval, E-W. Triangular group of faint stars just to E. Halo has somewhat distinct, but tenuous outer margins. With AV, halo fills in, but margins don't expand very much.  More elongated and much dimmer NGC 3599 is glimpsed with AV to the W.
3608 Gal Leo 12.5 SA-13 3/29/03
Littleton, CO
12:01ap 4/5 235mm
f/10
73
168
Smaller and a bit more elongated than 3607, which is in the same 73x field. Faint star (~13 mag) close to W. Very slight brightening toward nucleus. Texture fairly smooth; brightens with AV very much. Hint of a bright concentric portion detached from center on N margin. With extended viewing, nucleus becomes stellar at times.
