f/10.0
73 Faint object near 8.5 mag star, which makes acquisition difficult. Elongated halo, E-W, mostly seen with AV. Even brightness; no center stellaring, but there are subtle twinkles of light throughout halo. At 130x there is a slight flare of brightness near core.

At 73x, small, intense, and complex oval/ circular halo. Very textured. Just SE of two bright (7.5 mag) stars, with another faint (13 mag) star near edge of halo to W. At 168x, disk shows spiral texture, margins very distinct. Hint of a bar (?) or elongation N-S.

168
At 73x, S of 12 mag star, which makes it difficult to define. At 168x with AV, smooth elongated halo with another faint star just to SE.  Smoothly brighter toward center; no stellaring; outer margins fade out gradually to background.

235
Fairly bright and very irregular halo at 130x. At 168x, some core brightening and nucleus looks stellar at times. Out margins very ragged; spoke-like areas, but general shape is oval elongated SW-NE. At 235x, core area is very clumpy; dark region embedded in core to SE. Tends to flare into more elongated shape with AV.

Small faint streak at 73x, oriented E-W. At 168x, very mottled, with many stellar points throughout halo. Margins sharper to S.

In 14mm (168x), seen behind 11-12 mag star, which is within oval-round halo. Smooth surface with only slight granularity and no stellaring. Margins indistinct, and effect increased by the foreground star. At 73x, halo seen as even glow with AV.

Star like, bright, at 73x. At 130x, smooth, oblong halo with only slight brightening at core. At 235x, core is brighter, slightly knotty, with central bulge. Ends extend out in wispy points oriented N-S. E side more distinct.

168 Oval halo beside 8 mag star (to N). By putting star in blind spot, can see smooth halo with faintly mottled texture, but no remarkable central brightening. Out margins very indistinct.

In 32mm (73x) stellar nucleus almost as bright as companion M-51. At 168x, stellar nucleus is maintained; halo/ disk extends out perpendicular to crossing arm of M-51, with some dark spots near core area and some brighter clumps clustered near core.
